    The thing with French is you have all the tenses e.g past, present, future tense. Then you have the verbs does it go with Avoir Entre etc and is it Masculine or Feminine. I did French GCSE and I got a ‘C’ but I really enjoyed the subject. I don’t know if I would struggle with the standard at A level 😬

    I've always liked french and been doing alright in it, but all my mean french teachers put me off the subject :( (all their criticsm and hard marking)...do i take it? Ugh, i've always been the 'linguist' or whatever for the past 3 years but during and after covid i've just felt pressured to like it. ahhhhhh lol. Do i take it?

      If you’re being put off by bad teachers, is there a possibility of moving schools for A-Level? Lots of people in my school do that. Also, sometimes teachers can be nicer in A-Level. But I’m sure the tough marking will only make you better at French. Have a look at your options too, if you don’t take French, what would you do instead and would you like it more? I think that if you feel yourself leaning towards doing French just go for it. Usually you can change your subject a few weeks in if you really don’t like it anyways. Good luck! :D

      i’ve decided to do a level french in september, i’m really scared for it as i need a b to do the uni degree i want but i’m not that good. is it really hard? have u get any words of wisdom i could use lol

    • @Katie-qm5eq
      @Katie-qm5eq 3 роки тому

      @@Amy-yz4lg if you’re interested in it then I say go for it, as a level languages are so much more interesting than GCSE due to the range of topics that you study. For me, parts of studying french are hard and I won’t hide that but learning a language in general is so rewarding and fascinating, so it’s worth it. I was scared too, but it’s nice when you find mates that are at the same level so you’re in it together. Usually the classes are smaller than GCSE so it’s a very welcoming environment. You have to put a lot of effort into it but even as a really shy person who isn’t a fan of speaking in general (!) I find it a really fulfilling experience. Also I find the exam style quite hard to get used to as it’s quite different from GCSE, hence the low mark! ^^ But doing a language is a process that you have to keep building on so don’t beat yourself up if you’re not that good in the first year. I hope that made sense and maybe helped a bit :))

    Great video, and thanks for sharing your accent! This quiz was written by someone from the USA for sure, because it highlights a lot of our regional differences here. To answer a few of your questions about the quiz, the "throw toilet paper on a house" is a prank called "TP-ing the house." On the "trolley" alternatives, Southern Americans call it a "buggy", and most of the rest of the rest of America calls it a "shopping cart." Other names for the wood louse are "rolly-poly bug" and "doodle bug". The "sun shining while it's raining" has no name anywhere at all except the Deep South in the USA, where people say "the Devil is beating his wife" when that happens. Don't ask why, because I don't know! LOL

    Your accent is almost exactly like mine I often find my accent is like dough and depending on where I am, it changes so quickly. As soon as I get back home, it changes back, yet there is still an imprint of the accent of the place I had just visited. Slightly.

    I never did it as a kid, but throwing toilet paper on a house (of someone you hate or want to give the *worst* time to) is jut shortened to TP in the US. The awful bit is just how long it takes to clean it up, since it's soft paper meant to tear, and if it rains all the TP becomes like glue on any tree or house siding it dries on. The absolute worst, Worse than the flaming bag of shit gag. Love your vids, big fan! Cheers =)

      @@SophLouise Oh okay. Here in my country I do f.lit Olevel's and it is a separate subject from French in which we have grammar, comprehensions, essays (argumentative,descriptive, narrative)and traduction from English to French. In F.lit we'll study 3 books for 2 years. Some huge classics though, like from Moliere, Vercors and one from a local Author. French is one of our main languages here in Mauritius.
